How to Make Cannabis Syrup
Ingredients:
- 2 cups water.
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract (optional).
- 1 gram decarboxylated cannabis.
- 2 cups granulated sugar (or a sweetener of your choice).
💡 Pro Tip: Check out my Decarb Guide if you need a refresher!
Tools:
- Spoons.
- Saucepan.
- Stirring utensil.
- Measuring cups.
- Fine mesh strainer.
- Airtight jar for storage.
Instructions:
1. Mix sugar and water: Pour water and sugar in a saucepan. Stir ’em together good before turning on the heat. This helps keep things even.
2. Melt the sugar: Stir steady till the sugar’s all gone. When it’s clear, you’re good to go. Should take about 5 mins.
3. Add the weed: Turn down the heat to low, just a gentle bubble. Slowly add your weed, a little at a time, stirring well after each bit.
4. Simmer it up: Let it simmer for half an hour, stirring now and then. Keep the heat low so the good stuff doesn’t go away.
5. Cool it down: Take it off the heat and let it sit for a bit. Makes it easier to handle. It’ll thicken up a bit too.
6. Strain it out: Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth over a bowl. Pour the syrup through and squeeze the weed to get all the good stuff out.
7. Store it: Pour the strained syrup into a clean jar with a tight lid. Use a funnel if you need to. Make sure the jar’s dry before you put the syrup in.
8. Chill it: Label the jar with the date and how much is in each dose. Put it in the fridge. It’ll stay good for a couple of weeks.

Tips For Better Cannabis Infused Syrup
Making canna syrup can be tricky, but don’t worry, I got you covered! You want it strong, tasty, and the right thickness, right?
- Monitor Temperature Closely: Keep the temp at the sweet spot during the infusion. Too hot, and you’ll mess it all.
- Strain Thoroughly: Use a fine-mesh strainer to get rid of all that plant stuff after the infusion. Leftover bits can make your canna syrup taste pretty bad.
- Add Natural Flavors: Infuse additional flavors like vanilla, citrus zest, or spices for a more dynamic taste. Adding them during the infusion process ensures they meld with the cannabis and sweetener perfectly.
- Test Potency First: Start with a small dose when consuming your syrup. Even if you’re confident in its potency, testing ensures a comfortable experience. Adjust serving sizes as needed.
- Decarboxylate Correctly: Don’t skip decarboxylation! This process activates THC or CBD, ensuring your syrup delivers the desired potency. Bake your cannabis at 230°F (110°C) for about 30-45 minutes for optimal activation.
